Your GRECs Quarterly Payment Breakdown
When you installed your geothermal system at your Maryland home, you became part of a special, high-efficiency club. Your system generates one GREC for every megawatt-hour (MWh) of renewable energy produced.
Those credits are tracked, verified, and sold into Maryland’s renewable energy market. Because utilities are required to purchase these credits, and demand remains strong, geothermal GRECs continue to command the highest values among renewable energy credits in the state.
That market demand is what drives the value of your credits and results in your quarterly payment.
Regarding payment timing: Quarterly payments are being processed now and should be hitting your accounts soon. Additional quarterly payments will be made in June, September, and December.
